Hazy Singapore with Monsoon rain

About a month ago the haze started again here with the worst record of PSI 100+…that happen on a Saturday and no wonder we all have trouble breathing. Currently with the monsoon season almost here and it’s been raining almost every afternoon the haze sometimes persist with PSI reading of 50+. This is the only hitch now of living here, being near Indonesia who keep on burning palm plantations on a yearly basis hence the haze over all of Singapore and Malaysia….

Waiting...

It's nearly midnight and I am just here waiting for the group to arrive.. Updates ng happenings to follow..

Book buying binge….

I was on buying spree this week-end and mostly bought books, I was at borders yesterday evening and as usual when I am around these shelves and shelves of various books I am completely done. Anyway, now I really have to do some catch-up reading coz I ended up buying about 8 books (not that many but to me it’s a lot already…) Here’s what I bought: 1. Maid in Singapore – by Crisanta Sampang (got curious because she worked as a maid here and ended up as a filmmaker based in Vancouver – interesting huh?!) 2. Adrian Mole series – 3 books series by Sue Townsend (I find it funny) 3. Three books by David Sedaris (SantaLand Diaries, Naked, Me Talk Pretty one Day) – as recommended by sis Wena, she said he is funny like Jessica Zafra kind of funny 4. One book by Mitch Albom – forgot the title, something to do with relationship with mothers… So now I have lots to read before going to bed and during my train ride…pahinga muna ipod…

Trivia for TODAY

Friday the 13th abs-cbnNEWS.com If we are to follow superstition, today is not the day to do anything. Today is Friday the 13th. Both Friday and the number 13 are considered unlucky, and their combination is potent. The belief goes back to centuries ago and can be traced to several origins, some of which carry with it overtones of gender issue. It is believed that Eve tempted Adam to eat the forbidden apple on a Friday, sealing the link between women and the causes of man’s failure. David Emery, in Urban Legends and Folklore, cites pre-Christian cultures who took Friday as their day of worship, the sabbath. Emery links this to the belief that brings ill-omen to embark on a journey or start work on a Friday. When Christianity came, Sunday (or Saturday, depending on which version of the Bible you read) became the day of worship (when God rested) and Friday became the “Witches’ Sabbath.” Friday is said to have taken its name from Frigg or Freyr, a Norse goddess of sex and fertility, which

Patawa muna....

Lakas ng aliw ko dito hehe, forwarded email: I am passing this on to you because it definitely worked for me and we could all use a little more calmness in our lives. By following the simple advice I heard on Dr. Phil's show, I have finally found inner peace. Dr. Phil proclaimed, "The way to achieve inner peace is to finish all the things you've started and never finished." So, I looked around my house to see all the things I started and hadn't finished, and before leaving the house this morning, I finished off a bottle of Merlot, a bottle of White Zinfandel, a bottle of Bailey's Irish Cream, A bottle of Kahlua, A package of Oreo's, the remainder of my old Prozac prescription, the rest of the chocolate brownies, some Doritos and a bag of M & M's. You have no idea how freaking good I feel.

ChE_blues

See you soon Ambe, Iel, Jolo, Vince & Ally danda…

Philippians 4:13 --- I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

The road to success is not straight. There is a curve called Failure, a loop called Confusion, speed bumps called Friends, red lights called Enemies, caution lights called Family. You will have flats called Jobs. But, if you have a spare called Determination, an engine called Perseverance, insurance called Faith, a driver called Jesus, you will make it to a place called Success. - received from a friend...

Sept 8 Feast Day

Happy Birthday Mama Mary... Thanks for all the blessings...

Inaantok...

My work place is about 30min train ride from where we stay, you might say that a good nap in between will be in order for some people… True for some people but not me…by the time I am conditioned for a quick nap it will be about two stops to my destination, that’s 25min after we board the train…. kaya eto antukin…

Monthly Facial…

Oo birhinya, simula nung huling kaarawan ko ay nag sign na ako para sa isang facial package, 10 treatments on a monthly basis…hay ganyan nga yata pag tumatanda na…. well it’s about time I spend for myself naman… So there I was today at 12.30pm to 2.30pm, totally relaxed with 2hrs money worth of facial products slathered to my face….that includes the whole treatment plus facial massage, a bit of body massage and eyebrow trim….minsan nga nakakatulog ako duon, kumpleto kasi with soothing music pa…okay din at least once a month I get to pamper myself…

Sayang daw....

Enton

Stretched too thin….

Yap that’s how I feel right now… I am so stretched that you can spread me on a cracker at puede nang kainin…. Hay… too much work sucks…

All by myself...

The other night we went to dinner and I've ordered a full set with soup as starter, a main course and dessert and I finish it all off all by myself...wahhhh... I used to eat less, if it's a full course meal, after the soup and bread I will normally feel full but now!! wow men!! bring it on!!...but then it all goes to my middle and hips hmmmmmmm... di bale na sarap kumain eh, di vah?

TV Series DVD Collection

Eric is so fond of collecting dvd for various tv series and it's not cheap either. Every time he bought a lot I will also take something to contemplate buying but I always end up not buying it..The other night I told hubby the real reason why I don't buy and he laughed his head off hehe...my reason? well...I feel that I am not being fair to my "Friends" cd collection if I buy dvd for other series that I also like, I feel that if I have to start buying dvd I should buy Friends dvd first but then imagine 10 season of "Friends" for 100 bucks each... that's not really practical right?! so there...weird huh!?

Singapore's 41st National Day

Once again it's time for the biggest, spectacular celebration of the year here in Singapore. Just watched the national parade and still the turn-out of people celebrating together is amazing. Been watching it for five years now..can't imagine how it will be for their 50th celebration...hope we're still here then.. Happy Birthday Singapore, our second home away from home...

Si Iel naman…

Iel at age 12 does not have a care of what he has to wear…totally unaware of what he will look like if he combine certain colors. For him, as long as he feels comfortable, he will wear whatever he feels like wearing on any particular day… A classic case this morning as told by sis… Going to school on a Friday requires him to go in sporty attire, maybe they have PE or something. He wants to wear a black socks, a green jogging pants, a red shirt and a blue converse rubber shoes….heh….imagine that combination…. and here’s the most funny remark I’ve heard: Sabi daw ni Jolo: “Kuya, para kang FLOWER….yung red shirt ang flower, yung green pants ang stem, yung black socks ang lupa”… Hahahahaha…..made my day really!!

Jolo's 7th Birthday....

Today is Jolo's 7th birthday and he did have his celebration party yesterday... It was good fun so I heard..just waiting for some photos to update here.. Happy 7th Birthday Jolo M..

Si Vince naman...

Image
Vince at 1.5years old is starting to speak. Pero as usual only his Inay & Tatay and his Papa (his lolo) are the ones who can understand what's he's saying, so whenever I call home and there's a chance to speak with Vince I always ask the oldies "translation pls"... Here's a list of his recent mumblings: 1. lalalu (kangaroo) 2. lalotlot (rhinos) 3. wa (cow) 4. do (dog) 5. da (duck) 6. danunu (dinosaur) 7. dine (nini, his sister) 8. luwa (lola, his great grandma) 9. wawabu wawap (jolibee sarap) and he always take lola's tungkod daw...hay...pilyo rin... recently sabi daw "papa nani nini luwa"...translate nyo nga??

Si Jolo na naman...

Eto ang latest ke super kulit at kakaibang si Jolo M. - malapit na ang 7th birthday nya so sabi sa Inay nya ay maghahanda sya at gusto nya me karaoke...(he can sing "When September Ends" by Green Day ba yun??)

Being Sick and Feeling Helpless.......

Right now I’m a bit disconcerted because my uncle went for a major surgery to remove part of his intestine and part of the gall bladder. I heard he has too much equipment on him right now and it will still take a week for him to be released from the hospital… So far the doctor says it looks okay and that it looks benign, but still my uncle age is a factor in him being able to recover fast…. When I called and had the chance to talk to him for a few minutes he said one thing “ipagdasal mo ako”…. I think he has this fear….the fear of the unthinkable….I assure him it will be all right and that it is better for him not to think too much about him and try to recover fast… I refuse to submit to fear for “God hath not given me the spirit of fear; but of power and of love,

Sa aking kaarawan....

June'06 Vacation Updates

My flight is delayed until 6pm today and while I sit here at departure area waiting for time, I sit and ponder in what has happened on my one week vacation. The only regret that I have is that I did not have enough time to eat some local fruits like avocado, atis, langka, Indian mango at gulay na bulanglang….I’ve only managed to eat santol, nilagang mani at mais…well there will always be a next time… Okay, let me do a daily write-up of activities that we did for the last one week…. 16-June , flight home. Arrived early at the airport and was on our way home by 3pm. Kasama ang mga peborit pamangkins so as usual daan muna kami sa meryendahan bago umwi, arrived home at 5.30pm 17-June , Saturday and whole day was spent at home with the peborit pamangkins, kakatuwa kasi si Vince at marunong ng magsalita ng lobo, yoya (lola), tuta (tita hehehe), batu (baso), atu (aso) at yayibee (Jollibee, of course..), Vince is 1.5yrs old…Si Ally naman ay super lusog din at panay buga ng laway hehehe (she’s

Leaving Home for the kids Future…

Is this always the case for most of the families back home, willing to suffer being away from each other so the kids will have better future?? As it is my brother in law will leave tomorrow for Libya on a commissioning job. He has resigned on his permanent post as supervisor in the process industry near our place to earn more. His earnings on the local job, though not that minimal is not enough for the increasing expenses of kids going to school and at the same time managing the everyday living expenses aside from house mortgages. Such is the life of middle class earner back home. And such are the cases of continuous giving-up of permanent positions and good pays to go out of the country and earn more, at least earn enough to have all the basic necessities covered up….. What’s really sad to know is that my nephews will probably grow up without their father’s guidance. Their father will not be there to see the important events in their growing –up years, all the milestones on their scho

The Great Singapore Sale (GSS)

You wouldn't believe the crowd yesterday at Suntec City... There was even a queue on the escalators..this was because of the GSS where some shops go at 70% off on their items..this is the right time to go shopping and normally all people here thinks the same heh...so yesterday we started at Orchard Road with the same crowded frenzy then move on to City Hall Interlink Mall where we bought some dvds, then on to Suntec City for Iel's school shoes...aside from the crowd I think we did have a good deal coz we got a Rockport shoes at only 60sd (original proce is 140sd)...see what I mean?! it's really cheap to shop during these times, just be prepared for big crowds and some dehydration hehehe...after that we rush to a taxi stand and yes there's also a long wait but still we are able to get one by just waiting for 10min, so home at last by 7pm...tired but happy to survive another outing during the GSS... And now my sister sms that Iel size should be size 8 or size 9...grrrr...

Tapusan sa Sambat '06

Yap ngayon nga po ay isang mini-fiesta sa Sambat, well tapusan ng Flores de Mayo and normally me misa yan sa umaga, me konting palaro tapos sa dapit hapon ay me pursisyon ng Mahal na Birhen Maria kasama ang mga sagala at mga Reyna...Reyna Elena, Reyna Emperatris, etc, etc...dati alam ko lahat pangalan ng mga reyna kasi kami ang organizer sa events na ito, well that was during my teenage yeasr (tagal na nun...) That time was one of the best time of my life, masaya kami nun... So these days wala na yata masyadong sigla ang pagpupugay sa Birhen Maria every May....Normally this Flores de Mayo is to ask for rain kaso ngayon unpredictable na yung weather so it's now the least of the reason why we have Flores de Mayo.. I am glad anyway that this tradition still stays even though there's so much changes in the last years..at least FLores de Mayo for Mama Mary still remains...

Jolo and his pets....

Image
My nephew really like to take care of animals..the only problem is at his young age those pets really didn't last long and he always get upset whenever his latest pets goes on... Last time he has a couple of love birds, some fishes and a hamster. When the birds died, his papa got him some chinese chickens and he was happy..then he lost his fishes (which sometimes he feeds rice grains hehe..) and then lost his hamster too...So when he recently lost his chinese chickens he got upset and threw tantrums like why all his pets died...Just yesterday I learned that his father got him some fishes again ang a much bigger aquarium and he was telling Tita Chel that I will bring him oxygen daw for the fishes hehe..I have an extra aquarium pump here and i was telling Wena I'll bring it home for his fishes, so that's where he got the oxygen part..Now he was saying he wants a dog this small daw but he doesn't want the dog to grow big...mga kids nga naman.... Anyway Jolo is six years ol

Nga pala birthday ng kambal today..so Happy Birthday Rigor & Rachel...wish you both the best as always...

D' Vinci Code - the movie

I never thought this movie will be so boring...we watched it last Friday 9pm screening and I felt so sleepy in the middle of the boring movie...This is one of the Tom Hanks movie that I totally did not enjoy.. I guess with so much controversy I was expecting it to be good but it's so blah..Anyway I never did like the book itself because I feel there's so much climax and anti-climax along the way... By the way, my faith is still intact..no doubtful thinking of "what-if" it's true so I can't understand the fuss about this book or movie...

T'was too long already....

It was too long already from my last entry, I don't want to say it's my work again but it is my work again heh.. Me bagyo (Caloy) last Saturday sa Southern Luzon, meaning Batangas was hit..all is well naman sa bahay except sa mga halaman ni itang... 3. Tuloy ang uwi namin this coming June and I will only be able to have a week vacation at most...hay... K, that's it...and yah we have watched MI-3, and will watch tomorrow Vinci Code...lots of movies to watch this summer... I guess, summer will soon be over (specially sa Pinas) and I haven't been to the beach yet...hay...

Pugad Baboy

Busy me....

Labs went back for one week vacation and andito na sya ulit. My turn for vacation will be this coming June, bday kasi ni madir so me konti kami celebration..ang mahigpit nito di pa ko nakakapag-paalam sa opis na uuwi muna ko for one week..well bahala na tutal medyo malayo pa naman yun...

Nagpakulot ako.....

Nagpakulot ako ng pilik mata...nyehehe... Yep you heard it right, nakukulot na pala ang pilik mata these days, sari sari na talaga ang nauuso, sabi nung beautician matagal na daw itong eyelash perm pero ngayon lang daw nagiging popular dito sa singapore, nagulat nga ako kasi di ko alam to kahit matagal na daw uso, late talaga ako sa fashion and beauty tips hehehe... So ngayon itsura ng manika ang lantik ng pilikmata ko..sabagay this will save me a lot of time on eyelash pressing and applying maskara...pero one time ko lang gagawin to, natuwa lang ako sumama dun sa kebigan ko intsik, lukaret kasi yun...anyway we had fun yesterday doing it...

Engineering Technology

from forwarded emails (I am from the Planning Team), very funny indeed.... To sharpen our good engineering knowledge and skills: 1. Project Manager is a person who thinks nine women can deliver a baby in one month. 2. Construction Manager is one who thinks single woman can deliver nine babies in one month. 3. Controls Manager is one who asks if the baby is in the budget (and if it saves money to adopt). 4. Project Engineer is a person who thinks he can deliver a baby even if no man and woman are available. 5. Instrument Engineer is a person who thinks it will take 18 months to deliver a baby. 6. Process Engineers are the ones who think at eight months into the pregnancy that the baby's sex is wrong. 7. Client is the one who doesn't know why he wants a baby. 8. Structural Engineering is still figuring out how to produce a baby. 9. Procurement buys condoms by mistake. 10. Planning Team thinks they don't need a man or woman; they'll produce a child with zero r

Holy Week by Fr. Jerry Orbos

Below is the acronym H-O-L-Y W-E-E-K to help us make this week not just an ordinary week but a truly meaningful and a holy week. H --- alt! Stop for a while, or at least slow down. Take time to rest and relax. Your body needs rest, so find time to be still. Go away, disappear. Rest a while. O --- ff with your worldly pursuits and concerns. Turn off your cellular phone if you have to, so that you can focus on your spiritual life this week. Forget quotas, forget deadlines and forget performance. Just be. Don't let the world and its cares disturb the tranquility of your mind and soul this week. Let the world go by, and let the Lord take care of everything for once. Surprise yourself. Rediscover your inner strengths and simple joys. OFF to the world. ON to your heart. ON to your God. L --- isten. If you are in the Off or Silent mode, then you can really listen, pray and meditate.

Today's quote - 02 Apr.

Fear less, hope more; whine less, breathe more; talk less, say more; hate less, love more; And all good things are YOURS.....

Wala lang...

Napansin ko lang na di na ko nakaka-update dito ng madalas, ewan nga ba...when I started this I thought that I can at least do it on a daily basis, initially yes but as the time goes and when I changed work everything changes too, there's so many things to do and updating becomes the last priority. Sa work naman I'm having too much responsibility and the whole 9hrs work just passes by quickly, now I even have lunch time meeting...one hour out of the whole working day to do want I need to do and my company still opt to schedule lunchtime meeting...hay...that's the price I guess... Hubby will visit pinas this April, I can't come so I'll just do my vacation this coming June, tagal pa nun!!

We are so glad that he has achieved this important milestone in his life, specially now that life is a bit difficult re: education cost and everything. I wish him good luck in the next milestone and that he can achieve it without any hindrances..I know it will be difficult but I have faith in him and I know he can do it... Congrats bunso...labyo

from Mitch Albom: The Five people you'll meet in Heaven

Love, like rain, can nourish from above, drenching couples with a soaking joy. But sometimes, under the angry heat of life, love dries on the surface and must nourish from below, tending to its roots, keeping itself alive.

A Wife's Prayer (daw)....

Dear Lord, I pray for Wisdom to understand my man, to love and to forgive him… and for patience for his moods, Because, Lord, if I pray for Strength, I'll just beat him to death.

Tuesday with Morrie

I thought I'm done with reading, you see I will start on one book and later will put it down after a few pages, it's been like this for quite some time now, I couldn’t finish one book, nothing seems to interest me lately and so I thought I'm done with all the reading in my life.... basically I’m trying to find something interesting to read, until I got my hands on this book...I couldn't put it down and I was reading it during my train ride but I think I have to finish it at home coz I’m sure I’ll cry on some parts of it... It’s a book about life, how to live it…it’s about what’s more important in life, it’s about death and how to accept it and it’s about what the culture dictates is right but does not mean necessarily the real thing….

Wala lang.....

Since wala ako maisip these days ng update para dito ay kung ano na lang ang maisulat ko ngayon... Well, all is well..life is good, I'm so busy with my new work, which is normal in this line of work. Hopefully in two weeks time I can clear up some of the work back log.... Summer na ba sa Pinas?? can't wait to go home and relax for a bit...

Loving Someone...

I've come across this somewhere and I find it so profoundly true.... "We come to love not by finding a perfect person but by learning to see an imperfect person perfectly...."

The Five Finger Prayer....

from forwarded emails: 1. Your thumb is nearest to you. So begin your prayers by praying for those closest to you. They are the easiest to remember. To pray for our loved ones is, as C. S. Lewis once said, a "sweet duty." 2. The next finger is the pointing finger. Pray for those who teach, instruct and heal. This includes teachers, doctors, and ministers. They need support and wisdom in pointing others in the right direction. Keep them in your prayers. 3. The next finger is the tallest finger. It reminds us of our leaders. Pray for the president, leaders in business and industry, and administrators. These people shape our nation and guide public opinion. They need God's guidance. 4. The fourth finger is our ring finger. Surprising to many is the fact that this is our weakest finger; as any piano teacher will testify. It should remind us to pray for those who are weak, in trouble or in pain. They need your prayers day and night. You cannot pray too much for them. 5. And la

Another Last Day...

Yap, after three months of working with Foster Wheeler I'm moving on again...Today was my last day at the office and I feel a bit sad. During my three months I feel that I have assimilated well into their system and the people are much more cooperative compared to my previous work place...oh well, I couldn't really turn down a very good offer so I have to take this latest opportunity...sabi nga ng marami dito sa singapore pera-pera lang yan hehe... I'll be starting immediately at Jacobs Engg this coming Monday, 20th of Feb. Hopefully I'll stay put for while...I'll give myself a year at least... So wish me luck on my new adventure...new adjustment, new faces, new system, another learning curve and hopefully another notch in my career....

Breakfast, Heavy Lunch and a much heavier Dinner....

Three months into my moving downtown and I feel that I have gained so much weight already... I am taking breakfast as normal but then when the time comes for lunch all my resolve to eat less just simply dissolves with so many choices around me, besides lunch time is so late (12.45pm). When I was in SMO I will only take veggie during lunch time and some fruits during tea break. But here I can finish off the whole plate of pasta at Hans or a plate of local food at hawker center...And since going home took about 45min train travel, by the time I arrived at Sembawang I feel so hungry that I can finished off the whole order of claypot rice or whatever it is we're having....I haven't eaten this heavy before as I was really trying to lose weight but now I feel that my middle is starting to expand again huhuhu, I really need to discipline myself OR maka-enroll na lang sa slimming saloon....sounds so vain but I am really considering it as last resort.... Next month I'll be moving a

From forwarded email... When you think of your past love, you may view it as a failure. But when you find a new love, you view the past as a teacher. In the game of love, it doesn't really matter who won or who lost. What is important is you know when to hold on and when to let go! You know you really love someone when you want him or her to be happy, even if their happiness means that you're not part of it. Everything happens for the best. If the person you love doesn't love you back, don't be afraid to love someone else again, for you'll never know unless you give it a try. You'll never love a person you love unless you risk for love. Love strives in hurting. If you don't get hurt, you don't learn how to love. Love doesn't hurt all the time. Though the hurting is still there to test you, to help you grow. Don't find love, let love find you. That's why it's called falling in love because you don't force yourself to fall. You just fal

Si Jolo talaga....

Kuento ni Wena nag exam si Jolo and the type is a fill in the blanks kind of exam so eto yung mga sagot ni Jolo M.: 1. Question: We buy bread, pastries and cookies - Jolo's answer was hospital kasi daw nung pumunta sila sa hospital ay duon sya bumili ng cookies... 2. Question: We see our doctor - Jolo's answer was in the mall coz that's where he see's his doctor... patawa talaga pero in a way tama rin ang mga answer nya and ang mali ay yung question kasi nga naman kahit saan puede ka bumili cookies and kahit saan nakikita mo yung doctor...the question should be "where they make cookies" and "where to go if sick"....go Jolo hehehe...

Another Movement...

Well, after a series of talks and negotiations, and at the same time losing some sleep about it, I have decided to move again to another company. My last day at my current work is on Feb.17 and I'll be starting with the new one on Feb.20... Hopefully this will be my last movement for at least a year or so....
