Novena Church / Mama Mary’s Procession

Well, since we have started again going to Thomson Medical which is very near the Novena Church, we made it a point to attend the 10am or the 11am Novena Service. It’s in English and a bit different from what novena is like in the Philippines. Here the service contains a readings of thanksgiving letters as well as petition letters, of course not all are being read, I think they choose randomly. And the priest will give a sermon and lastly there will be a benediction of the blessed sacrament …We both find it soothing to go every week and just pray, the crowd is always big and a mix of different nationalities but even though there’s a big crowd, you’ll not be distracted as the service is always so solemn.

And as it is Mother Mary’s birthday today, the celebration was done yesterday. We thought we are early as we left the house two hours before the procession starts but when we arrived at the church there was too much crowd that we ended up standing with some of the crowds on the opposite side of the road, at the bus stop itself. The service lasts two hours. Sadly we really didn’t feel the service as the road is busy with bus and cars going by.
Anyway it’s a good Sunday afternoon well spent in celebration of Mama Mary’s birthday….
